Magical Adventures of Baby Polar Bear and the 12 Zodiac Animals is a children’s dance drama, the story about the North Pole is threatened by global warming because of decades of pollution, even polar bears have lost their homes! The twelve Zodiac animals, each endowed with unique talent, are sent to the North Pole on a rescue mission and help the cub reunite with her mother.
The design approaching is base on the narrative characteristic of the Dance Drama, and the movement needed to work with the various style of Chinese dance all through the show. Each Character having their own behaviour and because of the Dance Drama target audience is children; colour, clear and sharp image is also important for the recognising by the audience. In artistically approach I would like to explore the visual appearance of 12 Zodiac Animals and the China Folk costume trough various period and also concern the various style of folk dance in the performance. I believe the costume for a dance performance not only the movement and appearance also need to concern with the nature and expect of the type and style of the dance.
