Together alone is a duet dance by Vakulya Zoltán and Lee, Chen-Wei. During the performance, two of them were naked and their body connected to each other until the end.

The piece is really pure and the bodies naturally beautiful. However, sense of shame appears when people fronting naked bodies. I think it would be great when we use lights and theatre space to create mentally distance. At the beginning of the performance, the performers were set on the stage while the house open. I kept the lights on low intensity so the audiences see bodies but cannot recognize the features. The performers don’t expose too much, and the bodies get away from sexuality become graphics in the space. The lights create the theatre scape let both of the audiences and performers get used to their relationship during the piece.

Secondly, The set designer put the neon lights upon the stage. Creating mountain-like continuous curves. It is a color contrast between skin tone and neon. Also, the light project onto the white carpet creates another different colors. Because the materials are essentially different, It take times to deploy the contrast with materials. The lighting design not only interprets context but also created space and composed each part together in this project.
