Design Statement

All The Way portrays the pivotal year between the Kennedy assasination and Lyndon Baines Johnson's re-election as the President of the United States. The sound and music from this episodic show helped bridge the multitude of scenes and set the emotional tones for the various simultaneous stories that drive the show. The sounds of the US Civil Rights Movement mingle with the orchestral tones of the machinations of a complex democratic government throughout the score and sound design. Toward the end of the show, there is a moment where we hear the parallel voices of Martin Luther King and President Johnson speaking in juxtaposition; as they progress in their respective speeches their words begin to intertwine and that moment propels the show into election night in 1964 and on to the future of a United States that had been transformed by an extraordinary year.
