Design Statement

“Panta Rhei” means everything is in a state of flux. Choreographer Wen-Chung Lin used hydrodynamics as body language to merge Oriental dance with Western dance to recreate and discover more possibilities of the body, furthermore brought out the vicissitudes and self-reflection in his impressionistic style of dance.
Accordingly, lighting design aimed to reflect the continuous flow of time. The installation of set design used a particular material called NeoIris Film, making the set and the light combine perfectly together, presenting different textures and colors while the light projected from various angles caused transmission, reflection, and refraction. Sometimes it simply looked like a transparent film to the audience or reflected body movements of the dancers like a mirror, but sometimes it spectacularly splashed out all the colors and light on the whole stage. However, all of those transitions imply that although life keeps changing, the essence of us will still remain the same.
