Design Statement

Lake’s Angel Tetralogy are interconnected works created and presented over place and time. The imaginary is sited and informed by the South Australian Coorong wilderness. It is an alternative design in that the 'settings' are installations in the Coorong environment. Started in 2010 by designer-animateur Casey van Sebille, it’s planned completion is in 2018.

The narrative moves through four sites. The first is a rusted water Tank. The audience peer through holes. Inside Camine, a 1,000 year dysfunctional fire-bird reincarnates, to become Lake’s Angel.
Camine and the Emu costume designs were selected for the “Costume at the Turn of the Century 1990 – 2015”
at the Bakhrushin State Central Theatre Museum, Moscow. – June 2015 virtual gallery on the website: www.worldcostumedesign.com
The second is Paradise Shack – a Bachelardian ruin of the young runaway Poppy Lake’s childhood beachfront folly at the Mouth of the Murray. Birds have claimed the folly. A showing of Paradise Shack was presented in May 2014 with help from Country Arts SA at the Salt Water Festival. A trailer of the showing was directed-produced by James Marr and David Castle – Lakes Angel Paradise shack Trailer FINAL

Letterbox. In the dunes Poppy creates a home from place, a tensegrity architectural space built on principals gleaned from the environment.

Evicted they both Voyage the Coorong’s Milky Way. This includes a 35 metre moving floorcloth of Nebula across the Milky Way reflected in the night waters of the Coorong. Angel dies on the journey leaving Poppy to make herself alone.

The Helpmann Academy provided support to create a trailer for this aspect of the project in 2014. See (VIMEO …..). Lake's Angel The Voyage Trailer
