Design Statement

Dance drama “Storm Clouds”, adapted from a hugely popular Hong Kong comic which published over 25 years, is a phenomenal show combining dance, drama and martial arts; a fierce battle between hero “Cloud” and “Storm”, the ethereal dance movements of heroine “Hung Chi”, a complex love triangle and enthralling dance left audiences wowed.

Storm Clouds sets the story on an innovative stage that utilizes digital imagery, a gleaming pool of water, sophisticated lighting and stunning music score to reconstruct the comic realm and offer audiences great visual pleasure.

“This multi-dimensional stage has minimalist background, an obliquely hung cracked “white screen”, which has triple symbolism and functions: it is a piece of white paper (coherent to original comic); when lights projected on the stage, it becomes a mirror, revealed the theme about the fate of innocent beings. It also well-served as a projection screen. A long, narrow pool in the front end of the stage, with a stone in it, is where the battlefield lies.
