A Doomed Bug

Design Statement

Four people trying to hide from the cops in an illegally-built room in a tea restaurant are trapped in a dilemma. The play uses "cockroach bait station" as a symbol, from which derives the concept of lighting design. Through two disparate colors and angles, the light displays the smallness of humans in the real world but also the grotesque over-sized character in the “cockroach bait station,” constructing a magical effect. The “cockroach bait station” collapses in the end and is flooded by red color, which suggests “festive atmosphere” in Chinese culture but also implies danger in the western world.
