Vladimir Anshon
Born in Nizhny Novgorod (Gorky, Russia) in 1963.
Education:
Art school and School of Art and Design in Nizhny Novgorod (1974 – 1978 – 1982) (Russia), St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy (1985 – 1990). (Russia)
The start-off of the artist’s career in the theatre coincided with the beginning of renewal of the Baltic countries and Russia.
In 1989, Anshon took the first step on the Estonian scene.
In 1991, Estonia became an independent state.
From 1989 to 2002, he worked at the Russian Theatre of Estonia in Tallinn.
Altogether, he designed more than 40 productions, of which 25 were in the Russian Theatre. Co-operated with other theaters of Tallinn, Tartu (Estonia), St. Petersburg, Moscow, Yekaterinburg (Russia), Riga (Latvia)
The most well known works were created in the Estonian Theatres in collaboration with the artistic director of City Theatre of Tallinn Elmo Nuganen, in conjunction with well-known theatre world Directors Adolf Shapiro (Russia) , Mladen Kiselov (USA), Vladimir Baicher (GITIS, Russia). He has participated in many international festivals and exhibitions in Estonia, Russia, Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Germany, India, UK, USA, where he was repeatedly awarded prizes and diplomas.
He has also participated in Prague Quadrennial in 1995 and 1999.
In 1999, the personal thematic exposition of the artist in Prague Quadrennial was awarded the UNESCO prize for the promotion of the arts.
Member of the International Jury in Prague Quadrennial 2008.
Participated in the exhibition World Stage Designer 2013 (Cardiff, Wales)
Since 2002 until today, he works in the oldest Orthodox monastery in Estonia in the position of curator of Architectural and art projects.
